Arsenal vs Paris St-Germain predictions

Arsenal's home strength faces biggest test yet

Arsenal have a superb home record since returning to the Champions League at the start of last season but the Gunners face a testing semi-final first leg against Paris St-Germain.

The French champions endured a difficult start to the campaign, including a 2-0 league-phase defeat at the Emirates Stadium on October 1.

PSG have relished their subsequent meetings with Premier League clubs, however, and they look an appealing price with the draw no bet on their latest trip to England.

Partey absence could swing midfield battle

Arsenal were outstanding over two legs in their 5-1 aggregate victory over holders Real Madrid, whose superstars Kylian Mbappe, Jude Bellingham and Vinicius Jr were kept quiet by Mikel Arteta's men.

Declan Rice, Martin Odegaard and Thomas Partey bossed the midfield battle in a 3-0 home win and a 2-1 victory at the Bernabeu but the influential Partey is suspended against PSG.

His absence, coupled with Jorginho's injury, could be significant given the strength of PSG's midfield trio of Joao Neves, Vitinha and Fabian Ruiz.

Arsenal were able to limit the supply lines to Real Madrid's forwards thanks to their midfield dominance but keeping PSG's pacy forwards quiet could prove more difficult.

PSG’s wide threats can cause problems

Neither Ousmane Dembele nor January signing Kvicha Kvaratskhelia featured in the league-phase loss at Arsenal, where PSG had ten shots to their hosts' six and hit the woodwork twice.

Luis Enrique's men recovered from a poor start by winning their final three league games, including a 4-2 demolition of Manchester City, to sneak into the playoff round.

They hammered Ligue 1 rivals Brest 10-0 on aggregate before an extraordinary 1-0 first-leg defeat to Liverpool, who had just two shots to PSG's 27.

Dembele's early goal at Anfield set up an impressive penalty-shootout victory over the Premier League champions and PSG saw off Aston Villa 5-4 on aggregate in the quarter-finals.

Villa rallied well after going 5-1 down in the tie early in the second leg at Villa Park but that scare should sharpen up PSG for the trip to Arsenal.

Injuries mount for Arsenal ahead of tight first leg

The Gunners have won nine of their last 11 Champions League home games to nil and one of the exceptions was a 2-2 draw with PSV in the round of 16 after Arsenal had won 7-1 in Eindhoven.

They were magnificent against a disjointed Real side but PSG are a formidable unit who should be fresh after wrapping up the Ligue 1 title more than three weeks ago.

While Arsenal are missing important players such as Partey, centre-back Gabriel Magalhaes and top scorer Kai Havertz, PSG are at full strength and they can stand firm in a compelling first leg.
