Graeme Rodway's play of the day at Punchestown

4.15 Punchestown

Jasmin De Vaux will be a warm order for Willie Mullins and Paul Townend in the 3m Grade 1 novice hurdle (4.15), but it was pure ability that took him to victory in the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham and he still isn’t a natural jumper. Take him on with the promising Cardcounter.

Gordon Elliott's challenger has won both completed starts under rules, including one at this course, and looked suited by a test of stamina when successful over 2m6½f up Navan’s stiff finish last month.

Better will be needed again, but this further step up in trip will suit and he should improve.
