Women's Super League predictions

Chelsea have the chance to secure the Women's Super League title on Wednesday but Manchester United can delay any celebrations with a surprise victory over the champions-in-waiting.

The match at Leigh Sports Village is the second of two televised WSL encounters on Wednesday and the Blues will clinch a sixth straight title should they better Arsenal's result in the Gunners' meeting with Aston Villa earlier in the day.

Regardless of the result at Villa Park, Chelsea could struggle against a United side intent on sealing a top-three finish under Marc Skinner.

The bedrock of United's successful campaign has been a league-best defence which has conceded just nine goals in 19 matches.

Goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce has done an excellent job replacing Lionesses number one Mary Earps, who moved to PSG in the summer, and United's defensive resilience will be key to keeping tabs on Chelsea.

The Blues remain unbeaten in this season's WSL but they will have to pick themselves up from a demoralising 8-2 aggregate loss to Barcelona in the Women's Champions League semi-finals and they have played three times since United were last in action.

Skinner's side are yet to lose on their own patch in the league and they are worth backing in the draw-no-bet market against the potentially tired Blues.

Arsenal ensured there will be English representation in next month's Champions League final after they overturned a first-leg deficit to win 4-1 at Lyon on Sunday.

The mood in the Gunners camp should be therefore be excellent and they can brush aside Aston Villa to ensure Chelsea are made to wait to get their hands on the trophy.

Arsenal are top scorers in the division with 54 goals and could gives short shrift to Villa, who were humbled 4-0 by Manchester United in their last home game.
