Chennai Super Kings vs Punjab Kings prediction

Chennai Super Kings began their 2025 IPL campaign with a low-scoring victory against Mumbai Indians but they have lost seven of their eight subsequent matches and are bottom of the ten-team table.

Their latest loss came against fellow strugglers Sunrisers Hyderabad, who bowled out Chennai for 154 on Friday, and the Super Kings seem to be no closer to working out their best batting line-up.

Their top five against the Sunrisers included two mid-season signings, Ayush Mhatre and Dewald Brevis, rookie opener Shaik Rasheed, who was dismissed for a first-ball duck, and all-rounders Sam Curran and Ravindra Jadeja.

Visitors Punjab Kings should be backed to post a higher total than Chennai in the first six overs as their openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh look in excellent touch.

They put on 120 in 11.5 overs against Kolkata on Saturday, where rain denied Punjab the chance to defend a target of 202.

Arya, Prabhsimran and number three Shreyas Iyer have batting strike-rates of 201, 169 and 182 runs per 100 balls in this season's IPL while Chennai have consistently stumbled out of the traps.

Their run-rate of 7.9 in the Powerplay is more than one run per over worse than any other team and Punjab outscored their opponents by a margin of 75-59 in this month's 18-run home win over Chennai.
