Liverpool need only one point from Sunday's home fixture against Tottenham to clinch the 2024-25 Premier League title with four games to spare.

That would be an impressive achievement for a team who started the season as 15-2 third-favourites, behind 6-4 champions Manchester City and 15-8 shots Arsenal, and we have picked out five significant milestones on the Reds' path to glory.

October 6, 2024

Title odds: 6-4 Arsenal, 13-8 Manchester City, 7-2 Liverpool

Liverpool took 18 points from a possible 21 at the start of the Arne Slot era and the only blot on their record was a 1-0 home defeat to Nottingham Forest.

By October's international break their title odds had been cut from 8-1 in mid-September to 7-2 although Arsenal edged Manchester City for favouritism.

October 27

11-8 Manchester City, 9-4 Liverpool, 5-2 Arsenal

Despite losing key midfielder Rodri to a season-ending knee injury in September, City were back at the head of the market but Liverpool impressed bookmakers in their 2-2 draw at Arsenal.

The Reds, who had beaten Chelsea 2-1 at Anfield the previous weekend, twice came from behind at the Emirates Stadium as the Gunners slipped to third in the title betting.

November 10

6-5 Liverpool, 9-4 Manchester City, 7-2 Arsenal, 16 Chelsea

For the first time in the 2024-25 campaign, Liverpool went favourites to win the Premier League at the end of a dream weekend for Slot's men.

City lost 2-1 at Brighton and the Reds beat Aston Villa 2-0 at Anfield before Chelsea and Arsenal took points off each other in a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge the following day.

December 1

4-7 Liverpool, 11-4 Arsenal, 8 Manchester City

A dramatic 3-2 victory at Southampton on November 24 saw Liverpool go odds-on for the title and the following weekend they pressed home their advantage by beating City 2-0 at Anfield.

The Citizens had lost their previous three Premier League games and Hills reported that they were outsiders for a league fixture for the first time in seven years.

Liverpool, 11-10 shots, landed the gamble, seeing off their 9-4 visitors thanks to Cody Gakpo's early goal and a Mohamed Salah penalty.

February 23, 2025

1-20 Liverpool, 9 Arsenal

The title betting on Christmas Day had Liverpool at 4-9 ahead of 3-1 Arsenal and 6-1 Chelsea and the Reds had hardened to 1-4 by the start of 2025.

They dropped points in February's 2-2 draws at Everton and Aston Villa but strengthened their grip on the title race with a 2-0 win at City, a day after Arsenal suffered a shock 1-0 home defeat to West Ham.

Fulham ended Liverpool's 26-game unbeaten streak on April 6 but Slot's men were still 1-40 to win the league and the Reds are poised to celebrate only their second title of the Premier League era.
