The Coral Cup is a 2m5f Premier Handicap hurdle that takes place on day two of the Cheltenham Festival and, with a maximum field of 26, is one of the most fiercely competitive betting heats at the meeting, with only one winner in the past ten years returning a single-figure price.

There might be some dicey moments in his bid to come from out the back but JIPCOT (nap) is well capable of emerging on the scene to serious effect if he gets any luck. Second choice is another who's only just crept in at the bottom of the weights, as this contest could be a nice fit for Ike Sport, while Classic King and Saint Anapolino, the two reserves, would be shortlisted if they get a run. Be Aware, the long-time favourite for this, of course needs respect for Dan Skelton and Bunting has to catch the eye for Willie Mullins. Impose Toi, Al Gasparo and Beat The Bat are among the many others who need to be considered.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR - CORAL CUP 2024
Langer Dan created Coral Cup history by becoming the first horse to win the race twice. The Dan Skelton-trained hurdler returned on the same mark as the previous year and proved a class apart, scoring by three and a half lengths under Harry Skelton. The victory took Langer Dan’s course record to two wins and two seconds from eight starts and boosted Skelton’s impressive record in festival handicaps. Ballyadam and Shanbally Kid filled second and third for Ireland, while the fourth Lucky Place has since franked the form with Ascot and Cheltenham wins.
