The Albert Bartlett Novices’ Hurdle is a Grade 1 run on day four of the Cheltenham Festival and is the ultimate test for the very best long-distance novice hurdlers, being run over 3m and with 12 hurdles to jump. Since it was first run in 2005, its most successful winner has been Bobs Worth, who went on to win the RSA Chase at the Cheltenham Festival the following year and the Cheltenham Gold Cup two years later. Found 2m3f too sharp a test three runs back but progressive otherwise this season at up to 3m and he had Ma Shantou and Jig's Forge behind when digging deepest in a Grade 2 at Doncaster last time (3m, good to soft); this demands a whole lot more and he has plenty to find with Jet Blue on their clash here in December.

Derryhassen Paddy
A race that has been won by two future Gold Cup winners but this is notoriously hard to call with its history littered with bookmaker-friendly outcomes. Stamina usually wins the day and DERRYHASSEN PADDY is a staying chaser in the making who did well to win around the twists and turns of Windsor last time. He's very highly regarded and his stable has won this before. Some scruffy hurdling has been an unwanted feature in the careers of Argento Boy (second choice) and Jasmin De Vaux, but there's little jumping to be done from a long way out here and both should come home strongly. Jet Blue and Intense Approach are respected armed with all their experience.

WHAT HAPPENED LAST YEAR - ALBERT BARTLETT 2024
The Albert Bartlett has been known to throw up some of the Cheltenham Festival’s biggest shocks and it did so again last year with Stellar Story. Sent off an unfancied 33-1 outsider, he dug deep to repel all of his rivals under Sam Ewing and agonisingly denied The Jukebox Man by a head. Dancing City, who went on to win Grade 1s at the Grand National meeting and Punchestown, was back in third. Stellar Story’s win means nine of the last ten Albert Bartlett winners have come at big prices.
