Impressive Craven Stakes scorer Field Of Gold heads a possible field of 17 for Saturday's Betfred 2,000 Guineas after Monday's confirmation stage.

A Group 3 winner at two, Field Of Gold returned to action with an explosive display in the Craven and will bid to give John Gosden, who trains in partnership with his son Thady, a first win in the 2,000 Guineas.

Owners Juddmonte have also opted to leave Greenham Stakes scorer Jonquil and runaway Kempton scorer Cosmic Year in the race, although both have alternative options upcoming.

Unbeaten Group 1 winner Twain is set to make his first start of the season at Newmarket and heads five possibles for Aidan O'Brien, who has won the 2,000 Guineas a record ten times in the past, although his last win came with Magna Grecia in 2019.

His potential team includes Camille Pissarro, Henri Matisse, Expanded and Serengeti

Godolphin trainer Charlie Appleby also has a strong hand to play, with Group 1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Shadow Of Light and six-length Meydan Listed winner Ruling Court remaining in contention on Monday.

Scorthy Champ, trained by O'Brien's son Joseph, is another leading contender from Ireland having landed the Group 1 National Stakes at the Curragh last year.

Godolphin's unbeaten Fillies' Mile winner Desert Flower is no bigger than evens for Sunday's Betfred 1,000 Guineas after Monday's confirmation stage.

A four-time winner as a juvenile, Desert Flower sparkled in a racecourse gallop at the Craven meeting, earning rave reviews from her trainer Appleby.

She looks set to face stiff opposition from another unbeaten filly in the shape of Lake Victoria, who will bid to give O'Brien his eighth success in the 1,000 Guineas.

Officially rated 2lb superior to Desert Flower, Lake Victoria landed the Group 1 Cheveley Park Stakes over 6f last season before stepping up a mile to win the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf at Del Mar in November.

O'Brien could also run Bedtime Story, Exactly and Merrily, while Red Letter gives Juddmonte a realistic hope of securing a Guineas double.

Duty First, who returned to action with victory in the Fred Darling Stakes at Newbury, was supplemented for the 1,000 Guineas on Monday, leaving a potential field of 15 for the fillies' Classic.
