Riding Machines: Racing/training on an Orbea Opal. I do the "Market St. Criterium" in downtown San Francisco every weekday morning on a $300 Fuji commuter bike.

Favorite Race: Cascade Classic Stage Race (Bend, Oregon). I rode this in 1985 as a first-year cat 2, and was lucky to make the time cut on the hilly stages.

Favorite Training Rides: Pre-dawn hill repeats in San Francisco's Presidio -- there's no traffic, just a few skunks now and then.

Favorite Beverage: Anchor Liberty Ale.

Favorite Pre-Race Meal: Oatmeal with bananas, yogurt and granola.
