First Racing Bike: An early 1970's Atala - Steel and sprayed British Racing Green. Soon moved up to a svelte Zullo with Shimano 600EX. Mmmm. Best Christmas present ever.
First Race: Mesilla Valley RR - Citizens junior category - 1st place. Raced with all the adults and hung in for the sprint. I was only 14! Hooked ever since.
Qualified and attended National RR as a junior in 1986. Course - Morgul Bismarck (yes it was hard). Some dude named Bobby Julich wiped me off the floor.
Trained at the Olympic Training Center in CO Springs in early 1988.
Qualified and attended National Crit, ITT and TTT in 1989: Park City, UT
Qualified and attended National Crit, ITT and RR in 1991: Qualified top 15 in my RR heat. Outlasted many favorites in the RR before the field was whittled down to a precious few. Winner: Lance Armstrong.
Best ITT (40KM): 52:28 in 1991
1st place: La Corrida Albuquerque SR as a Junior.
1st place numerous races as a junior throughout the New Mexico
district. Raced one year as a senior Cat 3 before upgrading to Cat
2. Raced many tough races as a Cat 2 including La Vuelta de Bisbee
(when it was invitational only), Tour of the Gila (when it was P/1/2),
Durango-Silverton RR, Tour of the Sun and many more. Semi-retired
in 1992 to concentrate on graduating college. Entered Navy Officer
Candidate School in 1993 and active duty until 1999. Didn't really
lift a pedal in anger during that period. Then I started racing
more seriously again in 2000, but alas I haven't been able to string
together a season of good trainig yet.

Favorite Race: Then or now? NOW: Anything flat, preferrably a RR. THEN: Gila Inner Loop stage (not flat)
